The idea
A metronome gives a stable timing reference. The higher click marks the first beat of each bar. Beats per bar controls the accent cycle; it does not automatically choose a time signature or musical style.
Try it
Start at 60 BPM with four beats per bar. Count 1, 2, 3, 4 and place the same simple phrase on each bar. Listen before generating a track. Four bars at this tempo last 16 seconds. Try 80 BPM only when the phrase feels steady.
What to watch for
Live browser scheduling uses a short audio lookahead to reduce timer jitter. Preview stops when the tab is hidden, and device interruptions can still affect sound. The exported WAV has fixed sample timing and is a better reference for repeatable playback. For 6/8 you can choose six eighth-note clicks, or two main clicks, but the BPM unit then changes.
Next step
Download a short practice track and play it in your preferred audio player. Keep the volume comfortable. Increase tempo in small steps and listen for consistency rather than simply reaching a larger number.
